The Drive to the Mount and Three Hours on It

Excluded by the Shape of the Day

Closures That Can Change the Day

A few calendar facts matter. The abbey closes on 1 January, 1 May and 25 December, and the cemetery closes on 25 December and 1 January. Around the 6 June anniversary, commemorations jam the roads between Caen, Bayeux, Arromanches and the beaches, some communes close to traffic, and the cemetery ceremony is invitation only.
