In the Price and Out of It

The price covers three things: the English-speaking guide, transportation by minibus, and entrance fees. The same list also names food and gratuities, and those are NOT included, so budget for lunch in Normandy and a tip for the driver-guide if you thought the service was worth it. Because entrance fees are in the price you do not pay at the Juno Beach Centre, which charges €9 for the museum alone on a walk-up basis, or anywhere else on the route.

There is no abbey ticket or museum entry to budget on this day. If you want a cheaper D-Day coach with lunch included instead, look at the Omaha and Utah Beach day with lunch at $129.

Paris to the Coast

You meet at Café Dada Ternes 15 minutes before the 7:00 departure. The drive to the Normandy coast is about 3 hours each way in the minibus, a routing engine gives 3 h 02 to the Bayeux area with no traffic, and the listing budgets the same. Use the drive to hear the guide set up the Canadian story: more than 14,000 Canadian soldiers landed or parachuted into France on 6 June 1944.

Juno Beach and the Juno Beach Centre

You walk the same sand the Canadian troops did in 1944, with German bunkers along the coast. Your guide then takes you into the Juno Beach Centre, which the listing calls the most comprehensive museum about the Canadian landings in Normandy. Entry is already paid.

The centre itself charges €9 for the museum alone, or €13.50 ($15.39) with the guided bunker tour, for anyone visiting independently.

Bény-sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery

A short drive inland to the Canadian War Cemetery at Bény-sur-Mer, which holds 2,048 burials. The listing calls it a stroll through a beautiful cemetery, and it is the quietest hour of the day. Walk it as a cemetery, not a photo stop.

Hell's Corner and the Abbaye D'Ardenne

Hell's Corner is the furthest advance inland taken by Canadian troops on D-Day, about 5 miles from Caen. The Abbaye d'Ardenne nearby served as a headquarters point for the Nazi forces. Both are short stops that round out the story from the beach to the inland fighting.

Then it is about 3 hours back to Paris, with a return around 20:00 depending on traffic.

Hard Limits of This Listing

Latecomers cannot be accommodated, and tours always start sharp at 7:00. The tour is not suitable for wheelchair users. There is no hotel pickup, so you make your own way to Café Dada Ternes. Walking is easy, on sand, grass and paths, and the tour runs in all weather, so rain gear matters more than fitness.

No minimum age is stated, but a full 13-hour day in an 8-seat minibus with no toilet on board is a real test for small children. If you want a coach with more space and a set lunch, the D-Day beaches day with lunch carries up to 50 people and includes a 2-course Norman lunch. If beaches are not your focus at all, the Mont-Saint-Michel day trip by coach costs $101 and spends the afternoon on the rock instead.

The Meeting Point and the Clock

The meeting point is Café Dada Ternes. Be there at least 15 minutes before the official departure time, and expect the grey minibus about 10 minutes before 7:00. Confirm the departure time, the return point in Paris, and whether a food stop is planned when you book, since the listing says food is not included but does not publish a lunch stop.

What to Bring

The tour runs rain or shine, and Caen counts 12-14 rainy days a month from October to January against 8 a month in June to August. Bring a layer and a rain jacket. Walking is on sand, grass and paths, so wear comfortable shoes.

Closures and the 6 June Week

Nothing on this route needs a timed ticket from you, but closures can still change the day. The D-Day anniversary commemorations run around 4-7 June each year, when roads between Caen, Bayeux, Arromanches and the beaches jam and some communes close to traffic. Expect delays if you book that week.

For anyone adding sites independently, note that Pointe du Hoc has a restoration project running through mid-2027, so parts of that site may be closed. If you are in Normandy on public holidays, the Juno Beach Centre closes 1 January and 25 December. If your plans include the Mont-Saint-Michel abbey on another day, it closes 1 January, 1 May and 25 December, and the American cemetery closes 25 December and 1 January.
